Testing, testing. 00:00:07
This this. Come on. Good morning everyone. I'd like to call this meeting to order regular meeting of. 00:00:11
The Board of Supervisors here in Globe, Tuesday, March 18th, 2025. It's 10:00 AM. 00:00:18
I'm going to ask our Superintendent, Mr. Sandoval, if you would lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. 00:00:24
Followed by our invocation by Nick. 00:00:30
I pledge allegiance to the flag of. 00:00:35
Stay smart and to the Republic of which it stands. 00:00:39
One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. 00:00:43
Dear Heavenly Father. 00:00:55
We thank you for this day and be thankful for the Board of Supervisors and all of their. 00:00:57
Able to do to help our great county. 00:01:01
USD to. 00:01:03
Give them my Spirit to help them discern what is best. 00:01:04
And how to lead us and say these things? The new Jesus Christ. Amen. 00:01:07
Thank you. 00:01:12
OK, welcome everyone. I hope that the air is a little cleaner because we are rain and snow and. 00:01:17
All of that and I think we're going to have warm weather coming, so. 00:01:23
Let's go ahead and get started. We're going to start with item number 2, which is public hearing. 00:01:27
To a information discussion. Action to adopt ordinance #2025-04. 00:01:32
Ina county minor land division and lot line adjustment ordinance. 00:01:38
Which repeals the previously adopted ordinance titled Minor Land Division Ordinance of. 00:01:42
The County of Gila. Good morning, Randy. Morning, Sir, gentlemen. 00:01:47
So as you remember, we had a work session on this very ordinance. 00:01:52
Approximately about six weeks ago. 00:01:57
We have since then met with the Super, our surveyors. 00:01:59
Scott. 00:02:04
Contacted them, they're the surveyors to do. 00:02:06
90%. 00:02:09
Of the work in Gila County. 00:02:11
And had a meeting with them and went over the ordinance with them. 00:02:13
They basically had two minor. 00:02:17
Suggestions. 00:02:20
One was that after a certain. 00:02:21
Square footing or a certain. 00:02:24
Dimension away from the lot line that they shouldn't have to show those buildings. 00:02:26
We're talking like 50 feet. 00:02:30
Away from a property line, they shouldn't have to show the smaller buildings inside which. 00:02:32
I think it's reasonable when I told him I would do with the researching to see what our farthest. 00:02:37
Property line is and we would use that number. 00:02:42
It's either 50 or 70 so. 00:02:45
They're OK with that. 00:02:48
We also. 00:02:51
Asked apparently in the past. 00:02:52
When something got recorded. 00:02:55
They would were notified. 00:02:57
So that is something they would like to see come back so that they don't have to keep calling us. 00:03:00
To see if it's been recorded so they can let their customers know. 00:03:05
So we're going to get with the reporters office and see if that's something they can go back to. 00:03:09
I don't know what their manpower is to allow that or not allow that. 00:03:14
But we went through, the whole ordinance went through. 00:03:18
The minor land which we talked about and put in the ordinance charging the $200. 00:03:21
That we talked about here for that. 00:03:27
We talked about charging the 6:50 that we talked about here instead of 550. 00:03:28
None of them had any big issues with that. 00:03:35
It was me. 00:03:38
Scott, Homer. 00:03:39
And then the surveyors. 00:03:41
That were there. 00:03:43
And there was number. 00:03:45
Big complaints. 00:03:47
So with that, I'd like to. 00:03:49
Ask for your recommendation. 00:03:51
Answer any questions you may have. 00:03:53
Very good. Thank you, Randy. Supervisor Humphrey, I don't have any questions, anything. 00:03:55
Thank you, Supervisor Klein. 00:04:00
I don't either. Andy, thanks for reaching out to all the surveyors and thinking. 00:04:01
And no, I, I think I'm good. 00:04:06
And then I'll close it to the discussion at hand right now and open it up to the public hearing portion. 00:04:09
So is there anyone in Globe or on the Internet or in Payson that wishes to speak to this item? 2A. 00:04:15
I OK, so then I'll close the public hearing and call for a motion. 00:04:23
Mr. Chair, I move to adopt ordinance #2025-04. 00:04:30
I'll second that, have a motion and a second to approve. Those in favor say aye. 00:04:35
Aye, aye. Thank you, Randy. Thank you. 00:04:39
All right, item 3. 00:04:41
Regular agenda items 3. 00:04:43
Is going to be information discussion action to approve the distribution of secure Rural Schools and Communities funds? 00:04:45
Forest fees of Halo County share of the federal fiscal year. 00:04:52
2026. 00:04:57
And Secure Rural Schools Act fund as authorized through Section 24. 00:04:58
Of PL114-10 for the school years 20252026. 00:05:03
And using the same percentage splits as last year. 00:05:11
Which are the roads are 2.15% rule seven 7.93% in Gila County Education service agency 19.92. 00:05:14
Percent. We have Roy and Nick here today. Good to see you. 00:05:24
Good to see you. Thank you for having us. 00:05:28
Hey, yeah. Thank you, Chairman Christensen. 00:05:30
Board member Humphreys and Klein. This is the percentages we would like to distribute should we receive the funding. 00:05:34
This is free, self-explanatory, hasn't changed one one bit. The only thing I would add to it is that. 00:05:41
And you know my ways. 00:05:49
This comes from the payment in lieu of taxes that Pilt money. 00:05:51
And. 00:05:56
We're concerned. 00:05:57
That with the doge and everything, that that could go away and that would be devastating to schools. 00:05:59
It turns out that it's money that. 00:06:06
Undesignated Death. 00:06:09
That schools can use. 00:06:11
For one thing, they can fund positions with it. 00:06:13
They can fund emergencies if a bus goes down, they can have a lot of latitude, which they generally you don't have a lot of 00:06:17
latitude in school budgets. 00:06:21
But this Pilt money? 00:06:25
It's actually called Assistance to Rural schools, SRS. 00:06:28
But. 00:06:31
Just keep in mind please, anytime you speak with the. 00:06:34
Do you like Crane or a congressman? Mention the Pilt money and how important it is. 00:06:39
To counties and to the schools. 00:06:45
It's just a big deal. 00:06:49
And I would just add this one thing and I'll be out of here here. 00:06:51
Think about. 00:06:55
The reservation. 00:06:57
Where they get impact? 00:06:58
Show the Pilt money for us. 00:07:00
Is is sort of like the impact money is? 00:07:04
For the reservation, right? 00:07:07
In lieu of taxes, they. 00:07:09
The difference is. 00:07:12
For us. 00:07:14
We get $1.2 million. 00:07:15
Right for a reservation school. 00:07:18
It might be. 00:07:21
10 or 15,000,000 bucks a year. 00:07:23
Right. So in terms of? 00:07:26
Us getting a deal? 00:07:31
We don't get a great deal, but we do get a deal. 00:07:33
Compared to other places that don't. 00:07:35
Taxes, right? They get money in lieu of taxes. That makes sense. So just always emphasize that. 00:07:38
I think it's important. I appreciate it, OK. 00:07:45
Questions. 00:07:48
I have no question this has been the 1st. 00:07:50
Like you said, that hasn't changed so. 00:07:54
I'm good. OK. Thank you, Supervisor Klein. 00:07:56
So really, you're absolutely right. 00:07:59
And this this when I was in DC, this was a huge discussion, as you can quite imagine. 00:08:02
And I know that they were going to make another run at it. 00:08:07
Um, I haven't heard recently where it's at. 00:08:13
But because of the timing, because of where we are right now, there wasn't a lot of high hopes, but they they hadn't given up. 00:08:18
And so. 00:08:26
It was discussed in those offices. 00:08:27
And um. 00:08:30
I feel like for the most part, those folks understand the importance of this money. 00:08:33
For for these small communities and counties and whatnot. 00:08:38
You know, like just for instance, you're the money that you get out of this helps fund that adult education program. 00:08:42
Mr. Chair, Mr. Klein, yes, if, if. 00:08:50
If this money didn't go through. 00:08:52
I'm not sure what we would do when we could. 00:08:56
It'd be down to nothing and to just. 00:09:01
Add to the feedback on machine. 00:09:04
I think most rural. 00:09:06
In the West, most rural Congress people, they understand it. They get it. 00:09:08
But I'm not sure people. 00:09:13
Either side. 00:09:16
In urban areas or on either side of the United States, Congressman from those. 00:09:18
There is really understand. 00:09:23
Because they're, they have, they're huge tax generators. They don't understand that. 00:09:26
We teeter on edge and rule. 00:09:31
Rural areas. Thank you. Yeah, it seems like most of people on the West of the Mississippi understand this issue a lot more than 00:09:34
the ones on the east. 00:09:38
OK, yeah. And and so I'm, I'm real hopeful that. 00:09:43
They can pull it together and at the 11th hour and maybe get something done, but. 00:09:49
Roy, I don't know. 00:09:55
And you know, and like from accounting standpoint, you're right, I don't know what we. 00:09:57
What there is to help or do or you know? 00:10:02
And if we lose that money, yeah, Mr. Chair, Mr. Klein, I, I think we've done all that we could. I know I'm on the ECO board. 00:10:07
I know that we pushed from that standpoint. I know that you pushed. 00:10:16
You and I have communicated on that and and I know that other rural. 00:10:20
Board supervisors have and I think I'm pretty sure the. 00:10:25
The your organization. 00:10:29
Has as well, so. 00:10:32
It is about as much as we can do, I think. 00:10:34
So. 00:10:38
Thank you, Roy. 00:10:39
Thank you. Yeah, we are in a little bit of uncertainty at the moment with the state, the federal government, everything so. 00:10:41
Let's hope we don't lose vital funding that we need to run our programs so. 00:10:47
If that's all there is, then I'll call for a motion. 00:10:52
Mr. Chair, I'll make the motion to approve the distribution of Secure Rural Schools and Communities funds as presented. 00:10:55
Mr. I'll second that we have a motion and a second to approve. Those in favor say aye, aye, aye. 00:11:03
Aye, thank you, guys. Thank you so much. 00:11:08
Item 3B is information discussion action to ratify the Board of Supervisors approval for the Sheriff's Office. 00:11:12
Electronics in the middle of. 00:11:18
Fiscal year 2026 drug gang violent crime control grant application. 00:11:20
To the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission in the amount of $873,264.96 to renew grant funding that will be used for the salaries 00:11:26
and benefits of the Sheriff's Office Drug, Gang and Violent Crimes Task Force. 00:11:34
And we have fair representation of our. 00:11:41
Sheriff's Department today, looks like we have Sarah. 00:11:45
Sheriff Shepherd and under Sheriff Newman. 00:11:48
Good morning. 00:11:53
Good morning. 00:11:55
Appreciate the opportunity. 00:11:57
To present this to you guys this morning, we're seeking your approval for what is an annual application through the. 00:12:00
A CJC. 00:12:07
Criminal There's a criminal justice condition. 00:12:09
Or they continued oper. 00:12:11
Hebrew County. 00:12:15
We've been learning for quite a few years. 00:12:18
This year we're asking for. 00:12:22
873,000. 00:12:25
64 and change, but typically we get less than 1/3 of that, which is. 00:12:27
Covers our. 00:12:34
Having people. 00:12:35
Those couple of slots that we have. 00:12:39
And you know, she's training and such. 00:12:41
So that's pretty much what we're asking for. 00:12:44
We'll see what we get, but we're just looking for submitting the application. 00:12:48
OK. Thank you. 00:12:55
Under Sheriff Supervisor Humphrey. 00:12:57
Yeah, I, I, I have no questions other than I'm sorry that you only get about 1/3 of what you asked for, but I'm. 00:13:00
I'm sure what you're asking for is itemized so that they understand what your needs are. 00:13:07
They're just not giving you what they think that they're, they're just giving you what they think they need. So. 00:13:12
I I appreciate your reach and to try to help all you can. 00:13:19
Thank you, Supervisor. 00:13:25
So you guys thank thanks for pushing on this I. 00:13:27
I hope you get the amount of money that you're putting in for it's, it's real important. 00:13:31
I have a question as far as maybe statistics and if you know that's great if not, but. 00:13:36
Like when it comes to the gang. 00:13:44
Part of it. 00:13:46
Are we seeing more gains these days or are they starting to decline? Do you guys know? 00:13:47
I don't have you. 00:13:55
Don't have any part for you right now, but I think that. 00:13:57
We're not seeing any less. 00:14:01
So we've actually, there's even been a couple of new games that have been sprouted up. 00:14:04
They're very inconsequential at this time. Left of them with folks like get them. 00:14:11
Or state and task force from around the state, whatever they. 00:14:17
You know they start. 00:14:22
Reporting what's going on out there. You know their new gang names, They're very small. 00:14:25
To answer your question, I'm not seeing any fewer gangs. 00:14:32
So we're pretty much right. 00:14:37
OK. Thanks for that. I. 00:14:41
I have one more question for you. 00:14:45
The Violent Crimes Task Force. 00:14:48
Last Saturday I was at the the. 00:14:51
Deal out there, San Carlos for Emily Pike. 00:14:54
And so when it comes to the Violent Crimes Task Force. 00:14:57
What? What does that task force actually do? 00:15:03
Well, basically it's it's at this point, I call it an informal task force. We've got San Carlos BD, we've got the FBI, we've got 00:15:10
the County Sheriff's Office, we've got basic PD that the kids of the jurisdictions did this. 00:15:18
May or may not cross without her missing from Mesa, so that ties to him. 00:15:28
The the the body was recovered, so there's us. 00:15:34
There are some you know, she does baptize the same carpet so. 00:15:38
It's a task force in that we both be. 00:15:42
Jurisdictional agencies that are working together. 00:15:47
And then basically, yeah, that is, that is a task force, a lot of information sharing and weekly meetings on progress and stuff, 00:15:51
so. 00:15:55
That, that, that that's the way that looks right now. That could change tomorrow. But that's, it's a task force and that's how 00:16:02
we're upgrading. But also we resided with Lisa. 00:16:07
County Attorney's office also. 00:16:14
Thank, thank you for that. 00:16:17
Dennis The. 00:16:20
You know, one of my, my, one of my biggest concerns is every day when you when you hear the news and. 00:16:21
And from wherever, whatever angle that is, whether it's local news, Facebook, whatever it is. 00:16:27
We continue to see missing persons. 00:16:33
And it doesn't seem to be. 00:16:37
Getting better. It just seems to me like it's getting worse. 00:16:40
So that's that's why I say when it comes to this money, I hope you guys get the funds you need and can put it into these programs 00:16:44
that we can. 00:16:49
Hopefully start seeing the difference in. 00:16:55
I guess so. Thank you for all you guys do. 00:16:58
And I appreciate that, Mr. Chair. 00:17:01
Thank you, supervisor, and thank. 00:17:04
Thank you all for coming today, and I thank you all for what you do. 00:17:07
And so with that then I will. 00:17:11
Call for a motion on item 3. 00:17:14
Be this chair, I move to ratify the Board of Supervisors approval for the Sheriff's Office electronic submittal. 00:17:16
For the fiscal year 2026 Drug, Gang and Violent Crimes Control grant application. 00:17:25
To the Arizona Criminal Criminal Justice Commission, as presented. 00:17:32
I'll second that motion and a second to approve. Those in favor say aye. 00:17:38
Aye, thank you everyone. 00:17:42
All right, item 3C. 00:17:45
Information discussion Action to certify the collection amounts. 00:17:47
For the Superior Court $772,852.95. 00:17:50
Hasten, regional justice Court $558,443.47. 00:17:56
And Globe Regional Justice Court. 00:18:02
624,000. 00:18:04
$98.37. 00:18:07
Or the fiscal year 2023-2024. Good morning, Marin. Good morning, Mr. Chair, good morning, Supervisor Humphrey, Supervisor Klein. 00:18:09
Annually, the Board of Supervisors is called upon to. 00:18:16
To certify these amounts that the Treasurer deposits for. 00:18:23
The Superior Court, Payson Regional Justice Court and Globe Regional Justice Court. 00:18:28
This this year's certification are the amounts that Mister charges read. 00:18:33
Thank you, Mayor and Supervisor Humphrey. 00:18:38
I have no questions other than I guess you got it down to the pennies. So I guess we're. 00:18:41
I guess we're good. 00:18:45
We would expect no less. 00:18:48
Supervisor client. 00:18:51
Marin, thank you. I, uh. 00:18:53
This kind of goes in with our last discussion. It's a. 00:18:55
Maybe those fees and all that need to be about tripled and maybe crime and start slowing down too, huh? 00:18:58
I can't have an opinion on that. Thank you man for all you do. 00:19:05
All right. Thank you, Marin, and thanks for that presentation. I'll call for Motion 3. 00:19:13
Mr. Chair, I'll make the motion to certify the collection amounts for the Superior Court. 00:19:17
Payson Regional Justice Court and Globe Regional Justice Court. 00:19:23
For FY23 to 24 as presented. 00:19:27
Mr. Chair, I'll second that. Great. First, we have a. 00:19:31
Motion in a second to approve. Those in favor say aye, aye, aye. 00:19:35
Aye. Thank you, Mary. Thank you. 00:19:38
All right. 3D is information discussion action to approve economic development agreement number. 00:19:41
02062025. 00:19:47
With Pinal Mountain Foundation for Higher Education in the amount of $1000. 00:19:50
To assist in awarding scholarships to deserving students. 00:19:55
In Helicon, which the board. 00:19:59
Has determined to be for the benefit of the public, Supervisor Humphrey. 00:20:01
Yeah. And you know, I, I, I believe in education. I believe in helping with education and so. 00:20:05
I think this is a good cause, and so that's why. 00:20:11
It's brought before the board. 00:20:15
Supervisor. 00:20:18
Umm Tim, you want to double your amount? 00:20:21
I'll chip in with you. 00:20:23
I, I don't, I don't believe that they would not appreciate that. I, I think they would appreciate that very much. Maybe get you a 00:20:26
little further along. 00:20:29
Well, yes, scholarships are important. 00:20:33
Especially to those who are deserving of them. I totally agree. I'll match your $1000. 00:20:36
Very good. I appreciate. I appreciate it. And staff. Sorry about the paperwork involved. 00:20:44
But sometimes we can't talk until we get here. 00:20:51
And so. 00:20:55
If our attorney has no problem with it, I'm good with it. Thank you. 00:20:57
This elbow. 00:21:01
Mr. Chairman, so long as the Board. 00:21:02
Corrects the amount in the motion. 00:21:05
And then the vote for the motion, then doubling it to $2000 would be appropriate. 00:21:07
OK, OK. 00:21:13
Melissa, do we have enough money? 00:21:18
OK, while we're doing paperwork, let's do that. So I will offer a motion on item 3D for the amount of $3000. 00:21:21
As part of a correction in the motion. 00:21:28
Do you ask him for a motion? I am. 00:21:34
OK, I move to approve economic development agreement. 00:21:38
Number 02062025. 00:21:44
With Pinal Mountain Foundation for Higher Education. 00:21:50
In the amount of $3000. 00:21:54
Which the board has determined to be for the benefit of the public. 00:21:58
And Mr. Chair, I'll second that. 00:22:01
We have a motion and a second to approve. Those in favor say aye aye. 00:22:03
Very good. All right. Thank you, gentlemen. 00:22:08
You're very welcome and. 00:22:11
We might set a record today. Let's go on with the consent agenda item. 00:22:14
Or a through E Supervisor Humphrey, do you wish to? 00:22:19
Take any or all of. 00:22:22
Any amount of he consent agenda items and discuss in second separately. 00:22:24
I do not. 00:22:29
Same question, Supervisor Klein. Neither do I, and I'll call for a motion to approve consent agenda items for A through E So 00:22:30
moved, Mr. Chair. 00:22:34
I'll second that motion and a second to approve. Those in favor say aye, aye aye. 00:22:40
All right, call to the public. I don't believe we have anyone. 00:22:45
But I will ask Mason, the Internet and here in Globe. 00:22:49
Oh, OK. Thank you. We'll move on to Item 6, which is our. 00:22:54
Presentations and summaries. 00:22:59
And I'll call on them, Mr. Menlo. 00:23:01
Mr. Chairman, thank you for the opportunity. 00:23:10
Couple of things I want to note. 00:23:13
That report Mcmoran has applied for through the Arizona Department of Economics. 00:23:17
Not young security. Yeah, it is a guy with security. 00:23:24
Or. 00:23:27
Environmental Quality. 00:23:28
To re permit their facility they have for. 00:23:31
Cleaning the groundwater that they are discharging, that goes into Roosevelt Light. So just want to make sure you're aware of 00:23:35
that. 00:23:38
And report does a great job of ensuring that that all the water that's coming through this area is. 00:23:41
Clean and pure and going down into the valley for better water resources. 00:23:47
That they have applied for that and is in process. 00:23:52
There was a. 00:23:55
A final environmental impact statement from the Department of Air Force. 00:23:57
About a year ago or so, we had a discussion in the board meeting about how. 00:24:01
They're doing environmental impact study, the Air Force of doing low. 00:24:06
Level runs. I haven't looked the study to see what it says but just that there are they are in. 00:24:11
Final environmental impact statement comment period. 00:24:16
Is open for about another. 00:24:19
Few weeks, so I'll take a look at that and if we need to have any comments I'll bring that to your attention. 00:24:21
For a couple things that we've gotten going on for environmental. 00:24:28
Did last week have our kind of managers and administrators? 00:24:34
And kind of supervised association in Phoenix. 00:24:37
And I'm going to go to the valley. 00:24:40
For eco meetings and. 00:24:42
Than the CSA executive board meeting on Thursday. 00:24:45
Small counties tomorrow night. 00:24:48
Will be in the valley tomorrow and Thursday. 00:24:50
And. 00:24:55
I'll conclude my. 00:24:58
Information today, Mr. Chairman, OK, thank you so much. 00:25:00
Supervisor. 00:25:03
Yeah, I. 00:25:06
I attended a NRCD. 00:25:07
National Resource. 00:25:11
Conservation District meeting. 00:25:12
And that's a lot of things. They get a lot of things rolling with that on. 00:25:15
On the weeds and the fencing and things after the fires and so. 00:25:20
They're they're they're a good thing to have working with us in the county supervisor client comment. 00:25:24
On it more probably. 00:25:31
And then I attended a monthly meeting with the. 00:25:33
County Manager Men Love and Deputy County Manager Mr. O'Driscoll and the department head. 00:25:37
On projects that we have going in District 2 and projects that I want to get going. 00:25:43
In District 2, so it's a nice meeting where everybody sitting in the same room. 00:25:48
And so I appreciate their time. 00:25:53
In doing that with me. 00:25:56
That's about all I have. 00:25:58
OK. Thank you, Supervisor Klein. 00:26:01
Thank you, Mr. Chair. So like I said earlier Saturday evening I was in San Carlos said. 00:26:03
But the honoring Emily Pike. 00:26:09
And that. 00:26:12
That, uh. 00:26:14
Kind of an eye opener. 00:26:16
It is kind of a real sad state we're in today when you see things like this happen. 00:26:18
And we we kind of see it every day. 00:26:23
Right now and it's. 00:26:27
I don't know. 00:26:28
To me it seems really crazy. It really does and. 00:26:29
You know when you when you see the the missing children that are missing out there. 00:26:33
Umm, the things that happened, like to this young lady, Emily Pike. 00:26:39
It's hard to really understand that or fathom that people could be that. 00:26:46
Mean I guess. 00:26:51
And I, I, you know, I was sitting there listening to everything that night and. 00:26:52
It's the only thing I could say is I hope they're brought to justice real quick because I think there's a special place in hell 00:26:57
for those people. 00:27:01
And I think that for any of these folks that are that are missing and so. 00:27:05
Like when it comes to supporting our our sheriff and. 00:27:10
Whoever it is. 00:27:13
I'm all about it. I, I don't. 00:27:15
You know, I know we need funds. I know we need. 00:27:18
Manpower, people. 00:27:20
Whatever it is to get this done, and it's hard to come up with all these, all of that, but. 00:27:22
But doggone something's gotta give pretty quick, because this kind of stuff needs to quit. 00:27:28
And then last week at public lands meeting by teams. 00:27:33
This week is an ECO meeting Wednesday afternoon. 00:27:37
Small counties in the evening and CSA board of directors meeting Thursday after Thursday morning. 00:27:41
And as. 00:27:48
Supervisor Humphrey said. We were in that NRCS meeting. 00:27:49
Umm, that day too as well out there at Roosevelt and NRCS is doing good. They've got a lot of projects they're trying to get 00:27:55
wrapped up and done, but. 00:27:59
Coming along pretty well with it. 00:28:04
Friday morning here in the boardroom. 00:28:06
We're going to be hosting Arizona New Mexico Coalition, the county's annual meeting here. 00:28:09
And it's going to start at 9:00. 00:28:14
Howard Hutchinson will be here. 00:28:16
And of course, I'll be here and hopefully anybody that would like to join, you're more than welcome. It's open to the public and. 00:28:19
It's usually good. There's a lot of information that comes out of that. 00:28:27
That Mr. Chair. That's it. Thank you. And. 00:28:31
So just let everyone know if you didn't know there was a. 00:28:36
Shooting in Rye. 00:28:41
On Friday. 00:28:43
Details. There's no details of. 00:28:45
One of our deputy sheriff's had to. 00:28:48
Use lethal force apparently, and someone died. That was a burglar. 00:28:50
And there's several that apparently got away. And so that's all under investigation. 00:28:56
And that proceeding so? 00:29:01
That's always kind of shocking for. 00:29:03
Happen like that. 00:29:06
In our little county. 00:29:07
Yesterday was on Kmog on there once a month and that all went very well. I was able to address several things. 00:29:11
Like. 00:29:18
Clarifying sort of our position on the Mexican Gray wolf. 00:29:20
And what we're doing there. 00:29:24
And also talk about the pre fire season meetings that's coming up next week for Northern. 00:29:27
Gila County and talk about our water. We were blessed with some snow. 00:29:35
And rain down here and that's. 00:29:40
Really good. Not enough, but you know, we'll take what we can. 00:29:44
And uh, I have a trails meeting this week too. There's a pretty significant amount of effort. 00:29:48
Volunteer effort for trails and improvement of trails. 00:29:56
Especially in the northern part of the. 00:29:59
Healer County the Rim Country the. 00:30:02
Fine strawberry paste in all those areas. 00:30:06
Very vigorous trail society up there, so. 00:30:09
I'm kind of. 00:30:14
Invited to listen and if we can encourage them to. 00:30:17
Improve the trails not only for recreation but for access into the forest. 00:30:22
Fighting fires and things like that, it's all good so. 00:30:27
That's really all I have. 00:30:31
Mr. Chairman. 00:30:33
If I may, yeah, I would just I could just. 00:30:35
Rattled my brain today. I have a meeting at 2:00. 00:30:39
With members from the Ida Industrial Development Authority. 00:30:44
And manager Menlo. 00:30:48
So see if we can't work with kind of getting something jump started with the. 00:30:51
Idea and and work with them and try to get on the same page. 00:30:55
Now that we've got some members back in that and so. 00:30:59
Appreciate Joe, Heatherly and. 00:31:03
Shelby Bordeaux or some that I'm going to meet with today, so. 00:31:05
Anyway, I'm hoping that'll be a good meeting and we can start getting things rolling with our Industrial development Authority. 00:31:09
Very good. 00:31:17
Mr. Menlo. 00:31:19
Sorry to circle back around, but I wanted to express. 00:31:20
Appreciation to Marion. 00:31:23
Shepherd Heavenly. 00:31:25
That we had kind of a sudden. 00:31:27
Change in our Clerk of the Board office and. 00:31:34
Very thankfully. 00:31:38
Has been so willing to come and help us out. 00:31:41
And she she wants to be retired. She wants to be able to enjoy her grandkids and do those kinds of things. That's all. 00:31:44
Brian, we appreciate you and all that you do for us at Gila Canyon to ensure that. 00:31:51
We can keep going as a Board of Supervisors and. 00:31:56
Your skills and talents and abilities, we are certainly blessed to have you and your commitment to a Gila County, even after being 00:31:59
retired is tremendous and. 00:32:04
Chosen everything that you so thank you for all that you do for us it. 00:32:10
Is appreciated. I don't. 00:32:13
Acknowledge. 00:32:15
Special people like Marian often enough. 00:32:17
But thank you. 00:32:20
I did want to point out that. 00:32:22
Will to be losing again, Mr. Vela. 00:32:24
On March 28th. 00:32:27
He's, I think this is the second or third time that he's planning to retire from Gila County and we appreciate him. He's been 00:32:29
public works director for the last several years and. 00:32:34
Appreciate him our work session next Tuesday. 00:32:41
Is all public works. 00:32:44
So think about what where we're at with Public Works and all your questions. 00:32:46
So that we can ensure that we have a. 00:32:51
Some seamless. 00:32:54
Activity going forward in our Roads and Public Works Department. 00:32:55
And they? 00:33:00
So Chairman Christensen mentioned this morning of that we need to. 00:33:02
Make sure. 00:33:08
Of where we're going in public works. So we're going to be having this discussion next week. 00:33:09
And look forward to having that 2 hour, at least 2 hour discussion. 00:33:14
Because it's entirely set aside to public works and having a discussion of where we're at. 00:33:19
From the roads or public works, so we look forward to that. 00:33:23
Homer and. 00:33:27
Having that discussion. 00:33:28
Finally, next Monday on the 24th. 00:33:30
We have a meeting set up with the Executive Director for the. 00:33:33
Northeastern Arizona Local workforce Development Board. 00:33:37
That is. 00:33:41
Where people that are helping. 00:33:42
Federal money that's helping those that don't have jobs to help them become employable and be able to. 00:33:45
Teach them how to go to a job interview to make sure they've got. 00:33:51
Suitable attire to go to a job interview. 00:33:56
And to help people that need it most, they have a portion of it where. 00:33:59
When a business closes down, I know that in northeast Arizona in. 00:34:04
Navajo County, that. 00:34:08
A paper mill shut down there and they. 00:34:10
This group worked. 00:34:13
Help them transition that. 00:34:16
So it's an important part of Hila County. 00:34:18
Have the local Workforce Development Board meeting with them. New executive director that was put into place within the last few 00:34:20
months. 00:34:23
And to try to ensure that we are getting the services. 00:34:27
Because it is a three county consortium. 00:34:30
Of Gila, Navajo and Apache counties. 00:34:33
Want to make sure that we are getting the attention we deserve? A need. 00:34:35
Here in Villa County, through that local Workforce Development Board, that's a meeting on Monday. 00:34:39
Thank you, Mr. Chairman, for. 00:34:45
You're very welcome. Anymore updates or thoughts? 00:34:46
No, I just second James on homeroom. 00:34:50
In Marian, you guys are awesome. And Homer, we'll just, we'll just kind of hang out for six months a year and we'll save your 00:34:54
seat. How's that? 00:34:58
They're changing them. It's been really a pleasure working with you, Homer. It it really has. And and Marion, I don't know what 00:35:04
we'd do without you. 00:35:08
It you guys are just awesome, so thank you both very much. 00:35:12
Yes. And so I'll echo that as well. We have a lot of great people in Hula County. 00:35:17
And if you want to come to work for Eula County out there. 00:35:22
We post positions all the time on the website so. 00:35:25
There are. 00:35:29
Positions available. 00:35:30
So if there is nothing else then I will adjourn this. 00:35:31
Thank you. 00:35:35
Is that a record? 00:35:36
